Eric Benchetrit is a financial services industry consultant, providing financial advisors, life insurance agents, clients and related industry professionals, expertise in complex tax and estate planning, technical assistance, case packaging and competition analysis for the myriad of insurance and financial products and services available in the marketplace. Eric is considered by his peers as one of the most informed and knowledgeable authorities in his space and advisors often utilize his expertise to conduct joint field calls and meet with client’s professional advisors including CPAs, tax and estate lawyers and to speak on their behalf at client seminars. His opinions and expertise are also regularly called on by life insurance companies to assist in their product development and he sits on some of their advisory boards.
As a sought-after educator, he’s also been a faculty member and part-time Professor for Seneca College’s Financial Services Practitioner certification program. Graduates of this program complete a portion of the coursework for eligibility for the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) Professional Competency Examination as well as credits towards their CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) designation.
He has also completed the Continuing Education Program at the Wharton School of Business.
Eric has been in the financial services industry for over a quarter century in a variety of roles, including marketing and distribution at the executive and wholesaling level for insurance company head offices and Canadian investment firms. Additionally, He’s collaborated with CPAs and tax lawyers in designing proprietary tax mitigation structures for affluent Canadians. As well, he’s a succession planning specialist assisting private equity firms in determining valuations of financial services practices for potential acquisitions, while also maintaining a personal practice on a referral basis only. His Elite Advisor and Strategic partner status with major insurers, provides him with a team of dedicated case managers and underwriters ensuring priority service and prompt processing of all business for his clients. Eric’s business approach, uses a relentless commitment to professionalism and attention to detail. His process is collaborative and uses an integrated planning approach that works in conjunction with a client’s entire advisory team, cooperating in using all available expertise and knowledge to maximum use. A premium is always placed on absolute trust, discretion and confidentially in all matters, for all client affairs, at all times.
Eric has been involved in many speaking engagements and industry events over the years, including CALU, ADVOCIS, Independent Financial Brokers of Canada, Pro-Seminars, Advisor.ca and the Business Advantage Show. He has also appeared on radio programs and call-in shows on AM530, CFRA580 and AM740, written articles and been quoted in several industry publications and was profiled in the Canadian Business Journal and Business in Focus Magazine. He is politically active co-chairing a number of delegations to meet both Prime Ministers’ Harper and Trudeau of Canada, numerous parliamentarians and senators, United States congressman and senators as well as the Prime Minister and Senior Adviser to the King of Morocco. He holds a Specialized Honours B.A. from York University is married with 2 children, lives in Thornhill, Ontario and is a very active member of his community, being recently honoured for volunteering his time and sitting on the boards of multiple charitable and non-profit organizations.
